I also blame the fact that the romance wasn’t as astounding as I hoped it’d be. I guess it’s bad for a romance book to feel like the romance got in the way of the story but Abigail’s back story is just so intriguing that you’d want to read nothing else. I would have loved it more if there was less romance as I thought it broke the consistent thrill of the witness plot but nevertheless, it was still a good read for me. The first few chapters are very compelling. Reading it feels like the author knows what she’s doing and she knows what she wants to happen in every chapter. It’s nice and pretty enough so a 3 shall fit just fine. Nothing special or captivating about the cover.

MY REVIEW: 4 of 5 stars to The Witness by Nora Roberts ★★★★Ĭover Art: 3/5 stars. Twelve years later, the woman known as Abigail Lowery lives on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. The events that followed changed her life forever.
And that terrifies me.”ĭaughter of a controlling mother, Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. You’d put my life before yours to protect me. But I know what it means now, I understand that impossible depth of emotion now. They may believe it, or mean it, or it may simply be an expression of devotion. They don’t expect to, of course, have no plans to. “People say to someone they love: I’d die for you.
